Bare-Tool Panasonic EY6225C 3.6-Volt Ni-Cad 1/4-Inch Hex Cordless Drill/Driver (Tool Only, No Battery) Best Quality

I've been using these drivers for over 20 years! first the 2.4 volt version and now the 3.6 -- I have two. Great range of torque selection, super battery life, light and powerful. I really like the automatic motor cut off when the correct torque is reached. Saves time, wear and battery life.

the charger? full battery in 15 minutes.
but don't get the cheap knock-off batteries, they are bigger, heavier, and do NOT last. get the genuine!

Milwaukee 0617-24 14.4-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-Inch Cordless Hammer Drill/Driver Kit Order Now

I owned a Black & Decker cordless NiCd drill before this one. I used it for about 3 years until the batteries started to fade. Instead of buying new batteries I decided to buy a new drill.

I wanted something less plastic and more manly. Off all the drills I picked up in the store, this one felt the best. The metal chuck is awesome. You can tighten the chuck with just one hand, without spinning the drill.

I also wanted a drill that more consistently met its torque settings. That is, its tightening torque would be predictable and not sloppy like the B&D. This one seems to me to do a much better job of that. I did not test it with any special equipment. Just my impression.

I wanted a drill whose charger told you when the charge was finished. This one does.

I decided on the NiCd because I did not want to pay the extra cost for Lithium or NiMH. One other impression I have is that NiCd works better when its ben left out in the cold all night, than does Lithium. My Lithium drill has to warm up before it starts acting right. This one acts right no matter the temperature. I assumed that was due to the battery.

From this point on, I will do my best to buy Milwaukee tools. I love the feel and performance of this drill.

Skil 2567-02 3/8-Inch 120-Volt 14.4-Volt USA Cordless Drill Decide Now

Cordless drills need to meet three criteria to be worth buying. Have adequate torque to drive screws, a battery that holds a charge under modest use and two batteries to facilitate continuous use. The SKIL 2567 has none of these. I bought this drill to replace a 14.4 B&D, which performed well (re: the above three conditions) but B&D discontinued manufacturing both the batteries and the chargers, both of which went bad.

The SKIL 2567 has very limited torque or driving and drilling power. Only twist drills of less than 1/4" can be used with reasonable effectiveness. Spade bits take forever to drill trough a 2" board, if the drill doesn't peter out first. The battery retains its charge through only the lightest job and since only one comes with the drill kit, you are SOL for finishing the job. Further, the battery doesn't retain its charge for very long while the drill is dormant. A full charge will dissipate almost completely in about three weeks, so the idea of grabbing your drill for a quick job is not possible.

My SKIL 2567 came with an attached STUD FINDER, which is even more hilariously useless than the drill. It is powered by one of those expensive, small round batteries you normally find in cameras, etc. I installed the battery when I purchased the drill and it was totally dead by the next time I picked up the drill. For a few dollars more than the cost of a new battery you can buy a stud detector that runs on AA batteries.

SKIL made their name on handheld circular saws. I have had one for years. But I, for one, will not purchase any cordless tools with the SKILL name on them.Get more detail about Skil 2567-02 3/8-Inch 120-Volt 14.4-Volt USA Cordless Drill.

Hitachi DV18DMR 18-Volt 1/2-Inch Cordless Hammer Drill Right now

The case broke the first time I used it and now the keyless chuck is stripped. Yeah it has a 5 year warranty but I have to drive all over to get to one and the parts always take weeks to arrive. I thought Hitachi was so good boy am I wrong. I will NEVER buy a Hitachi tool again.Get more detail about Hitachi DV18DMR 18-Volt 1/2-Inch Cordless Hammer Drill.

Lowest Price DEWALT DC728KA Heavy-Duty 14.4-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless 1/2-Inch Drill/Driver Kit

I purchased this drill on line through [...]. I got a great deal on the drill and so far no issues (about $[...] with shipping when it was all said and done). Have been using it for a few days now and it already extends the battery life of some of the less expensive cheaper drills I have owned. I like the fact that it comes with a second battery and the charger all in one tool kit. Exceptional versatility and power for a 14.4 volt drill/driver. It has all the power of an 18 volt but its easier to work with and is lighter in weight. I love DeWalt products, would highly recommend for the price. One little annoyance is the case is a pain to open up when laying flat, other than that, great drill for the money...I hope it lasts me a long time!Get more detail about DEWALT DC728KA Heavy-Duty 14.4-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless 1/2-Inch Drill/Driver Kit.

Low Price Makita 6337DWDE 14.4-Volt NI-MH 1/2-Inch Cordless Drill/Driver Kit

After six years of heavy use, this drill would have been still going strong if it wasn't for a few things.

First, never, ever, tighten the chuck down with one hand, like you can with one-sleeve chucks. A co-worker of mine borrowed this drill and tried doing so, repeatedly, and the chuck made horrible grinding noises as the rear sleeve and the front sleeve worked against each other. The chuck doesn't grip well anymore. It loosens up repeatedly in the middle of easy drilling through 2x4s.

But for the six years that it did work, it worked perfectly, and with the original set of batteries, too.

Buy it and use it carefully. You will not regret it. It beats every other competitor for the price and utility, hands down.Get more detail about Makita 6337DWDE 14.4-Volt NI-MH 1/2-Inch Cordless Drill/Driver Kit.
